  The "28th National Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Annual Conference and the 8th Member Congress of the China Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Association" was successfully held on May 18-19, 2021, at the Dezhou Fuhao Kangbo Hotel in Dezhou, Shandong Province. More than 300 participants attended the conference, including representatives from government and functional departments such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, and the China Building Materials Federation; research institutions such as Sichuan University, Zhengzhou University, China Five Rings Engineering Co., Ltd., and Guizhou Donghua Engineering Co., Ltd.; leading enterprises in the industry such as Yuntianhua, Guizhou Phosphate, China National Chemical, Xinyangfeng, Jinzhengda, and Stanley; as well as enterprises and media involved in industrial equipment design and manufacturing, resource comprehensive utilization, etc. The conference was hosted by the China Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Association and organized by Jingjin Environmental Protection Co., Ltd.

  Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, China's phosphate and compound fertilizer industry has faced numerous difficulties and challenges. However, through unremitting efforts and united struggles, the industry is continuously showing a positive trend in its comprehensive recovery. The year 2021 marks the beginning of the "14th Five-Year Plan". The overall direction of the Chinese phosphate and compound fertilizer industry has been proposed as "deepening industrial structure adjustment, innovative development, and green development, adhering to the overall goal of high-quality development." The mid- to long-term development tasks of achieving carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060 have also been clarified. Additionally, the continuous development and changes in agricultural planting structure are forcing the industry to transform and upgrade, creating a mutual interaction of new opportunities and challenges. This annual conference aims to summarize the achievements and experiences of the industry in 2020, analyze the development trends of the industry in 2021, strengthen communication and understanding between the government, enterprises, research institutions, and product demand units, share experiences in aspects such as industrial structure adjustment, product upgrading, quality management, energy consumption management, cost reduction and efficiency enhancement, technological progress, scientific and technological innovation, safety and environmental protection, extending the industrial chain, and developing a circular economy, analyze existing problems in the industry and response strategies, and explore the paths and directions to achieve carbon peak and carbon neutrality, thus achieving a good start for the industry in the "14th Five-Year Plan."

  During the conference, leaders from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation attended to provide guidance and delivered important speeches on topics such as soil quality in our country, carbon peak and carbon neutrality development in the petrochemical industry, and environmental management related to the "three phosphates" industry. Experts from Sichuan University, Zhengzhou University, China Five Rings Engineering Co., Ltd., and the China Building Materials Federation spoke on the high-quality development and industrial upgrading direction of the phosphate fertilizer industry, efficient utilization of phosphate resources, and the ecological transformation of the phosphate chemical industry. The conference specially set up forums for the development of the phosphate fertilizer industry and comprehensive resource utilization, as well as forums for the development of compound fertilizers and new fertilizers and fertilizer additives, where group discussions were held on the large-scale comprehensive utilization of phosphogypsum, comprehensive solutions to the "three phosphates" issues, fluorine recovery technology and application practices, and new fertilizers and fertilizer additives and their mechanisms of action. The three thematic meetings provided representatives with a wealth of information. In addition, at the request of some enterprises, this annual conference also added small exhibition booths for enterprises to showcase their images. Concurrently, the 8th Member Congress of the China Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Association, the 9th Council of the 7th Session of the China Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Association, the 1st Executive Council of the 8th Session of the China Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Association, the Expert Committee Meeting of the China Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Association, the 4th Member Congress of the New Fertilizer Branch of the China Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Association, and the 2nd Member Congress of the Fertilizer Additives Special Committee of the China Phosphate and Compound Fertilizer Industry Association were also held. During the conference, representatives visited Jingjin Environmental Protection Co., Ltd.

This annual conference collected 53 professional papers, covering the current status and trends of global sulfur and phosphate resources, phosphate and compound fertilizers, the phosphate chemical industry's upstream and downstream development, energy conservation and consumption reduction in the phosphate fertilizer industry, pollution prevention measures, technological innovation, comprehensive utilization technology of phosphogypsum, as well as urgently needed communication literature on compound fertilizers, new fertilizers, and fertilizer additives, which can specifically address industry issues, has high value, and offers significant learning and reference value.
